After spending 5 days here, I can confidently say you don’t need more than 2-3 days in this city. It reminded me a bit of New York, and spending some extra time here was nice, but there wasn’t too much to do. Here are a few things we did:
Day trip to Zaanse Schans
We took the train from central station and it was a quick 20 minute ride. You can see everything in Zane Schans in about 2-3 hours. It was a nice change of scenery from the city!

A private walking tour
A private walking tour
I chose a private tour because we brought Elle, so if we needed to stop for a diaper change (which we did) or a feeding, it wouldn’t have been an issue. With our guide, we were able to walk to most of the main spots and learn a little history while doing so.
Red light district
it’s definitely worth seeing, even if it’s just a quick 10 minute walk through which is what we did. Just one of those thing’s you’ll only ever see in Amsterdam

Canal cruise
Canal cruise
A nice way to spend a morning. It was a quick ride but worth it. We used the company, Flagship.
Rijksmuseum & Vondelpark
We did these two in a day since they’re near each other. A great way to spend the afternoon.

Our hotel (The Hoxton) was located in a great shopping area right on the canals. We (I) spent a lot of time going in and out of the stores almost everyday on my morning walks.
